DEMAND SIDE MANAGEMENT (DSM)
Demand Response (DR) is an interesting topic many of our clients have not heard of or have heard of but do not fully understand. As the energy industry evolves and utility providers try to adapt to new regulations promoting renewable generation and less reliance on non renewable resources such as gas, the energy market is becoming increasingly more dynamic. Utilities are very good at forecasting electricity loads day after day year after year however there are certain times with changing weather patterns often becoming more intense and unpredictable customer behavior which cause forecast to fall short. Detrimental factors as a leading indicator for our clients to draft and implement a DR Plan are on the rise as well. More intense storms, increasing summer temperatures, extensive heat waves, wild fires, changing wind patterns, over loaded grids and the infamous duck tail curve are just a few reasons MVP works closely with our clients to implement a (DR) programs and the knowledge to make their operations as resilient and adaptable to the environment as possible.
A DR program may be hard to draft an implement for many 24-7 operations, especially for those in with critical infrastructure. Drafting a plan can sometimes seem as if your walking through a mine field when the concept is discussed with the operations side of our clients and how it may interface with Utility offered DR programs. MVP understands these issues and realizes no two highly effective plans are alike and their is a highly strategic method to an effective plan that can be implemented on a moments notice. Utilities and DR aggregators offer lucrative financial compensation for your ability to react in times of energy shortages, disasters or any other event causing a need to curtail load on the grid.
